Design for Everyday Mobility – From Bicycle Centre 2.0 to a Cycling City | LAD 2.0

The objective of this continuation project has been to promote the implementation of the Cycling Promotion Programme of the City of Helsinki (see English abstract here). The programme envisions regional bicycle centers to complement the services offered to cyclists at the current Bicycle Centre in Kamppi, the heart of the Helsinki City Centre. The project supports this objective by planning a set of design and service elements for Bicycle Centre 2.0. The elements can be used to build a variety of entities in different parts of the city, corresponding to the needs of movers. The project is coordinatrd by Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and co-financed by the City of Helsinki Innovation Fund. The measures are based on the further development of th results of the previous Design for Everyday Mobility (ERDF 2011 – 2013) project.

The project focuses on the following activities:
1. The development of the activities of the Bicycle Centre
2. Planning a Regional Bicycle Centre at the old railway station buiding in Malmi, suburban Helsinki
3. Connecting the development measures of Bicycle Centres with the planning of future Metropolia University campuses.

The planning path is illustrated as follows:
